First and foremost, MadHouse FX is NOT a 1-800-DJ Coming nor are we the makeup company MadHouse Studio FX (awesome prosthetics though) We like to think that our brand for MadHouse FX has significant meaning. We thought MadHouse was fitting for a few reasons. One reason could be that all those associated with us are a little crazy (you have to be a little nuts to do things as big and outrageous as we do). The second reason for the name will become apparent as you read on and discover the unlikely origin of how this rag tag team of misfits got started.
Back in the day, around 1996, a few members from Mini Creations (truck club) with a love for Halloween decided to put together a Haunted House for the kids (and adults) around their neighborhood. It was Paul "DJ Tempo" Arroyo from Arroyo Entertainment original idea, but scaring the crap out of kids one night a year seemed right up Roulette's alley so he signed on. It is truly amazing the amount of work that goes into one night of terror.
MadHouse FX and Arroyo Entertainment put together a Halloween spectacle that brought the masses to the South Bay for a scary good time. Unfortunately, Halloween is only one night a year and Roulette needed something to do for the other 364 days of the year. Back in those days Roulette was heavily into dumping every cent he owned into his vehicle and showing it around the So Cal circuit. While at one of the various shows he saw a group known as HI SPEED PRODUCTIONS managing the entertainment for the event. They were the biggest and most visual entertainment group in and around the show scene at that time. They would spin tunes and provide comedy for large one-day events and weekend truck runs. Just like in the cartoons a light went off over Roulette's head. He had to align himself with them some how. After weeks of planning and scheming he came up with a brilliant plan. He decided to just go ask them if he could hang out and help at events. Who’da thunk it, but it worked. Roulette (or Ro) learned a lot from his time with HI-SPEED (both good and bad). The owner of that group, who we will call “The King” decided it was time to start a family and disband the company. This left Ro with an idea. Now that the biggest event entertainment group in the show circuit was gone, it was time for him to take his DJ and M.C skills to the next level. Ro decided it was time to make MadHouse more than just two turntables and a microphone (thanks Beck). There was a niche in the market and he was going to fill it. It took a lot of begging, borrowing and stealing to get the first few gigs, but it was worth it and ack then we were doing a majority of the shows all over the state (not to mention Nevada and Arizona). Fortunately, Ro became good friends with one of the talents from HI-SPEED and they have been partners for quite sometime. He taught Ro the ways of the Force and they were the twins you may have seen on stage at most events they did (okay, they look nothing alike but it’s it funny to say that). We at MadHouse FX have gathered together the best talent and it is our goal to produce the best product each and every time we do a show and event. We’re not too full of ourselves because, well have you seen what we do? We do both big and small shows & events and “bring it” the same at either.
From haunting the neighborhood, to hanging with the guys that provide music at events to BEING the guys that provide music and entertainment at events, it has been a long, fun and wild ride. We at MadHouse FX hope you will join us as we continue to bring the entertainment correct at any and all events we are a part of. Any mobile DJ can play music but as you have read, MadHouse isn’t ANY mobile DJ. We wanted to stand out in a market that is saturated with the same ole same ole. That’s why when we do anything we do it big (or try to) Music, comedy and lot’s of produced extras are what we are about. Also, we believe there wouldn’t be any “US” without you and hope you feel the same way. Enjoy the site and we will see you out and about!
